Inclusion criteria: patients who remained in the hospital for ≥ 4 days
Key exclusion criteria: any environmentally-implicated healthcare-associated infections in which the patient had a previous infection with the same organism within previous 14 days
Interventions
N=9117 PX-UV disinfection (pulsed xenon UV disinfection after standard terminal cleaning)
N=10296 sham disinfection (sham disinfection after standard terminal cleaning)

Conclusion
In patients who remained in the hospital for ≥ 4 days, PX-UV disinfection was not superior to sham disinfection with respect to a environmentally-implicated healthcare-associated infections.
