Use only if benefits outweigh potential risks. Monitor neonates for hypothyroidism. This drug should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus and its use is considered essential.
Check thyroid function in neonates during the first week of life, following administration of iodinated contrast agents to the mother during pregnancy.
Repeat testing of thyroid function at 2 to 6 weeks of age, particularly in low birth weight or premature newborn.
Breastfeeding
Acceptable for use during breastfeeding.
Unknown drug levels in breastfed infants.
