Insufficient evidence. Evidence of fetal harm in animals. Use of tetracycline-class antibacterial agents (including this drug) during the second and third trimester of pregnancy may cause discoloration of deciduous teeth and reversible inhibition of bone growth.
If this drug is used during the second or third trimester of pregnancy, the patient should be apprised of the potential harm to the fetus.
Breastfeeding
Do not use during breastfeeding.
Unknown amount excreted in breastmilk.
Unknown drug levels in breastfed infants.
Adverse reactions
Common 1-10%
Hypotension, infusion-related reactions, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, wound dehiscence
Uncommon < 1%
Acute pancreatitis, allergic reactions, pancreatic necrosis, pleural effusion
Unknown frequency
Acidosis, anaphylaxis, dental enamel hypoplasia, ↑ BUN, ↑ LFTs, ↑ serum phosphate, infections, photosensitivity of skin, pseudomembranous colitis, pseudotumoral soft tissue lesion, tooth abnormalities
