The Severe Community-Acquired Pneumonia (SCAP) score is a clinical calculator used to assess the severity of community-acquired pneumonia in adult patients. The SCAP score is particularly useful in identifying patients who are at high risk of mortality and may require intensive care unit (ICU) admission. It takes into account factors such as patient age, comorbidities, physical examination findings, and laboratory results. The higher the SCAP score, the greater the risk of severe disease and mortality. This calculator is not applicable to patients with hospital-acquired pneumonia, immunocompromised patients, or those with other types of respiratory infections.
