TNM classification for parathyroid carcinoma (Shaha system)

Tumor classification
Tx: Primary tumor cannot be assessed
T1. Tumor < 3 cm
T2: Tumor > 3 cm
T3: Tumor of any size invading surrounding soft tissues (thyroid gland, infrahyoid muscles)
T4: Massive central compartment disease invading trachea and esophagus or recurrent parathyroid cancer
Lymph node classification
Nx: Regional lymph nodes cannot be assessed
N0: No regional lymph node metastasis
N1: Regional lymph node metastasis present
Metastasis classification
M0: No distant metastasis
M1: Distant metastasis present
Stage cannot be fully assessed
