The calculator in question is the Diagnostic Criteria for Chronic Idiopathic Intestinal Pseudo-Obstruction (CIIP). This diagnostic tool is used specifically in the patient population presenting with symptoms of bowel obstruction but without any physical blockage in the intestines. The clinical utility of this calculator is to aid in the diagnosis of CIIP, a rare and severe gastrointestinal motility disorder, by evaluating a combination of clinical, radiological, manometric, and histopathological findings.

The criteria include symptoms such as abdominal pain, distension, vomiting, constipation, and malnutrition, along with specific radiological and manometric findings. Histopathological findings may also be considered if a full-thickness biopsy of the intestine is available.

Exclusion criteria for the use of this diagnostic tool include the presence of mechanical obstruction, metabolic and endocrine disorders, neurologic diseases, and connective tissue diseases that could explain the symptoms. Additionally, the use of medications that could affect gut motility should also be ruled out before applying this diagnostic criteria.

# Criteria
 A. Persistent or repetitive development of symptoms of serious bowel obstruction that may require hospitalization (such as abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain) over a long period of time
B. Duration of symptoms >= 2 months for neonatal onset and
>= 6 months for onset in infancy or later (including adults)
C. Gastrointestinal dilatation and air-fluid level on diagnostic imaging
D. No lesions mechanically blocking the gastrointestinal tract
E. No pathological abnormalities in the nerve plexuses on HE-stained full-thickness intestinal biopsy specimens
F. Megacystis microcolon intestinal hypoperistalsis syndrome and segmental dilatation of intestine are excluded
G. Secondary chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction is excluded
